Orthopaedic Surgery and Fracture Care, Sports Medicine, and Knee and Shoulder Surgery

Dr. Sailer is a Board-certified orthopaedic surgeon. His specialty area is sports medicine, with a focus on shoulder and knee surgery—both arthroscopic and joint replacement. Dr. Sailer’s patients range from “weekend warriors” to high-level athletes.

Dr. Sailer is a native Seattleite, attending Whitman College for his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Biology and graduating with Honors from the University of Washington Medical School. He completed his Sports Medicine fellowship at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado after a year on the Orthopaedic faculty at the University of Washington, before joining Proliance in 1994.

He and his wife have three children. They enjoy snow skiing, water sports, biking, and are involved in their kids’ sports teams and activities. Dr. Sailer is the team physician for the Skyline High School Spartan football team, providing care since 1997.

Dr. Sailer’s philosophy of care is simple. Take good care of people and treat them like you would a family member. He listens to the patient, puts them at ease and thoroughly explains their condition so they can make an informed decision about their care.

Michael J. Sailer, MD

Let's just say he has put me back together more than once and may not be the last time. Love this guy. Always has a great smile and his assistant handles his business. I implicitly trust Dr. Sailer. He gives options with a smile. One year I tore my bicep tendon off. Had me under the scapel the next day and his anesthesiologist had me wake up like clock work as if I had the best nap ever.

I highly recommend Dr. Sailer for any joint work. He fixed my left shoulder to full function when another doctor said surgery would not work. Dr. Sailer later replaced my left knee a few years ago and I couldn't be happier. I don't jog anymore but at 74 I still go out for 5-mile walks, do stairs and walk the golf course. He is the best!

Dr Sailer is everything you'd expect in a doctor. Kind and competent. You could not be in better hands. Have no hesitation to visit this healer.

Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Your health is of upmost importance to us. Proliance Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine remains open at our Bellevue and Issaquah locations to serve the medical needs of our patients and community.

We wish to evaluate you as soon as possible. In an effort to do so, we are now offering virtual visits through a secure video-call application. Now, you can meet with your provider from the safety of your own home. Please call to schedule or speak to a staff member who can help answer questions and schedule an appointment (either virtually, or in person if necessary) as soon as possible.

We are prioritizing visits for the treatment of time sensitive conditions per recommendations from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Washington State Department of Health. For the safety of you and other patients, we will be screening everyone before they enter one of our clinics. All providers and employees are also being screened twice daily at all of our locations, in compliance with the latest guidelines

To best protect our patients and staff, all providers you encounter during your visit will now be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks.

We ask that you remain at home if you have a cough and/or fever or if you have been exposed to someone with these symptoms. Please contact your primary care provider immediately if you have any of these symptoms. We ask that adult patients who do not need assistance come into the clinic by themselves to limit visitors.
